Craft Club at Turner Contemporary, Margate - Tracey Emin
Craft Club in May coincided with the opening of the new Tracey Emin exhibition - She Lay Down Deep Beneath the Sea.
I had been lucky enough to attend the briefing for the exhibition a couple of days earlier and was very impressed with the stitching and especially the tapestries. I love they way they capture movement.
The group at Craft Club reflected the more adult nature of the exhibition so we had fewer children learning to finger knit, weave and knit. Crafts we did were knitting, finger-knitting, stitching, crochet and weaving. Tracey Emin herself joined us to have a look at the creations.
Here are some weavings in different shades of blue to reflect the colours of the exhibition. These were completed by adults, young people and children.
I wished I had managed to take pictures of the stitching too!
