yarn evening tonight

Tonight, purpleclaire textiles and me, will be hosting our 1st yarn evening, in south east London’s famous cafe, with jam and bread.

They’ll be lots for you to do like: pegloom weaving, finger knitting and crocheting, extreme knitting and crocheting also knitting and crocheting. All materials are provided for free.

We’ll also be selling our handmade items, so get your gift buying groove on!

with jam and bread have a yummy range of drinks, savouries and cakes to buy whilst you craft. I can recommend the lemon and poppy seed slice!

£18 adults and £15 for under 12’s, which you can pay on the door. The cost includes a hot, cold or soft drink.

Forget the cold, and warm up with good food, drink, cake and yarn!

Monday’s - Lee Green Knitting & Crochet Club

Hi all,

Every Monday from 6.30pm - 8.30pm, @ the Lee Green Community Cente, is the place to be, if your a new or existing knitter, crocheter or crafter.  It’s a relaxed atmosphere, where you’ll be welcomed no matter your level.

Here are the details:

Lee Green Community Centre, 3 Leegate, London SE12 8SS.  (Get off bus outside Sainsbury’s)  An optional donation of £2, would be very much appreciated, which will go towards refreshments, heating, the running of the centre, etc.

I’ll bring some yarn, needles & hooks for those who don’t have any, but feel free to bring your own.  They’ll even be a peg loom weave for you to have a go on, if Claire brings it. 

I will be on hand to assist, especially beginners, but i’m sure other experienced attendees will help on the night.

There’s a Wednesday afternoon knitting group, run by Julia Gemie, @ the community centre 2pm - 4pm.  She’d love to see you.

If you can’t attend any of those, I go to a fabulous group called Pins N Needles @ The Fox & Firkin pub, Lewisham High St, SE13 - (opposite the Ladywell Leisure Centre).  We meet every Wednesday from 8pm.

New Knitting Group starting

Hi all,

Mary asked me if i’d like to do/run a Monday evening knitting group.  After not so much thought, but after consulting my diary, (nothing happens without my Mulberry), I said yes.

Here are the details:

Monday 21st March.  6.30pm - 8.30pm.  Leegate Community Centre, 3 Leegate, London SE12 8SS.  An optional donation would be very much appreciated, which will go towards refreshments etc.

I’ll bring some yarns & needles for those who don’t have any, but feel free to bring your own.  I will be on hand to assit, especially beginners, but i’m sure, experienced knitters will help others on the night, as i’ve had many replies from interested parties already, so my time will probably be spent with newbies.

I’d like to keep it relaxed the first night, as they’ll be a lot of introductions, hand shaking & tea drinking.  (I hope there’s herbal tea!)  If there’s a project you’d like to do as an individual or group, then let me know: marciahamilton@ymail.com or via my Ravelry page (i’m: bigbagmomma1).

For the future, I was thinking of doing a mass knit-a-throw-a-thon, knitted squares for a patchwork throw, then it could be sold/auctioned to raise funds for the Community Centre/Charity etc.
