Getting creative at The Make Escape

I had a great time at the Make Escape, last night.

It’s held on the last Tuesday of the month, upstairs in the Hackney Attic, at The Hackney Picture House.

I headed straight for Mr X Stitchs table, but it was full! Five minutes later, he started his session again, then he’d go around to various tables and boots, where others were stitching with Aida fabric, coloured threads and gold-eye embroidery needles.

We were given a smiley face to start off with, then once we got used to the basic cross stitches, we were off!

The organisation is very good, with lots of free, craft activities to keep you busy from 7.30pm onwards. Plus, the Spinning Yarn DJs are good too. Last night I nearly got my pom poms out, when they played ‘Mickey’!

Perry Lewis was there, with a table covered with lots of lovely fabrics, and a friend started making a lovely headband, with African fabric.

The Collage Corner was also very busy, too.

Here’s to next month. See you there!

Lee Green Open Studios 2012

Lee Green Open Studios currently has 52 artists working in studios and homes in the South East London area.

Our aim is to increase awareness of the arts and artists in the immediate locality around where many of us live, and thus encourage interest and participation in the arts.

Need to celebrate!

On the 21st March 2011, we started our first craft group at the Lee Green Community Centre.
Shortly afterwards, we called ourselves Funky Fibres Craft Group, now resident in The Edmund Halley pub.

I can’t believe we’ve been going a year, AND I totally forgot to mark it, especially as I like birthdays! We need to celebrate!

The link shows our 1st night.

Thank you to everyone who’s been there from the start, and to those yet to come
