Toe view if toe up sox. I’m part of ORASH, Operation Replace All Socks With Handmade. Thus means replacing shop bought socks with handmade. Doing them 2 at a time on 1 circular knitting needle is better for me.

Week 7 &The Tazmanian Devils!

Last night was a funny, if not a naughty night, with the Funky Fibres Craft Group.

Mesopotamia/Tasmania will not be explained in this blog, because you had to be there, but trust me, it was hilarious, and this is a ‘family’ blog!

SPOILT FOR CHOICE

Claire finished her fabulous garment, and boy, did she look gorgeous in it!

Cast off detail

The yarn used is an alpaca-acrylic mix, and the grey colour looked great with the dress Claire wore.  She’s started another one & I can see many incarnations of this, afterall, as the pattern says, she’s Spoilt For Choice!

KAIYA, KAFTANS & CUTTING EDGE FASHION

Claire’s also knitting a scarf using the fabric from a kaftan she used to wear.

This is a great way to recycle clothing, update your wardrobe, save some money & keep items out of land-fills.  Well done, Claire.

Kaftan fabric before cutting

Kaiya didn’t bring her crochet, so her job was to cut the fabric into strips.        She would cut the strips to a certain width & length, then they would be tied to the yarn, then be knitted.

(Excuse fuzzy pic.  Taken whilst Claire was knitting)

You did well, Kaiya, considering you had to tie them as quickly as possible, as Claire was knitting just as fast!

WHERE’S KERMIT?

Ripping back or Frogging, is a knitting term, which means to pull something back. For examle, i’ve made a mistake/dropped a stitch or two a few rows down, and I need to undo/pull out/pull back the stitches to reach the mistake.  Rip it is similar to the sound a frog makes, hence the term rip it.

(Excuse pic.  Taken whilst Mary was frogging)

This is what Mary was doing.  I’m not sure what the original item was, but she was pulling out the yarn, to be used for something else.  I wonder what it will be..?

SOCK HOLLYWOOD

Kat’s knitting socks, and these beauties, are for a Hollywood actor!

I think the Director’s getting a pair too!

The cable pattern is a fav of mine, as they’re done without a cable needle.

The actor likes to wear bold coloured socks, so this colour is right up his street!

KEEPING IT CIVIL

A dear friend of mine, had a Civil Ceremoney about a month ago, so I made this card for them.

I used Merino wool roving, which is sheep’s wool fleece, and with a felting needle, I felted the colours together, layering as I went.

I sewed some coloured sequins to it, to give it a bit of bling.  Now to get it in the post!

That’s all for this week, but coming up: THE BIG LUNCH.  Details to come.

So, until the next time.  Keep crafting, keep creating.

Peace & Love
